Ukraine - MTS plans USDlr150 mil UMC spend in 2004
MTS (Russia), mobile operator, will invest over USDlr150 mil in Ukranian Mobile Communications (UMC) (Ukraine), subsidiary, in 2004. It invested USDlr142 mil in UMC over the first nine months of 2003, with this set to reach USDlr200 mil by end-2003. UMC currently has around 3 mil subscribers, up by 76% from start-2003. The total number of mobile phone subscribers in the Ukraine is forecast to grow by 66% in 2004 to reach 10 mil, up from 5.7 mil at start-December 2003.
