Minister says Russian budget surplus for 2003 exceeds expectations
Moscow, 23 December: The federal budget surplus in 2003 came to approximately R158bn. Tatyana Nesterenko, the Russian deputy finance minister, said this to journalists today, according to Prime-TASS. This is a preliminary estimate of the execution of the federal budget for the year taking into account data on financing, she said. According to Nesterenko, the balance in personal accounts of those on the receiving end of the budget [Russian: byudzhetopoluchateley] may come to about R10bn. Earlier the Russian Finance Ministry planned for a federal budget surplus in 2003 at the level of R148bn.
