22 December 2003 17:41 Russian capital city enjoys record-low unemployment rate - minister The unemployment rate in Moscow is less than 1 per cent, Minister of Labour and Social Development Aleksandr Pochinok
said today. This figure is record-breaking low for the capitals of all the countries in the world, he said.
Answering a question about the ministry's most topical tasks at the end of the year, Pochinok said that one of
them was to transfer to the regions funds for mandatory insurance of vehicles owned by the disabled. He also pointed out
that the law on alternative civil service to come in effect from 1 January was still being drafted. Under that law, the
ministry will be in charge of employing those servicemen who chose to do alternative service.
