US envoy due in Moscow to discuss Iraqi debts
The envoy of US president George Bush, former Secretary of State James Baker will arrive in Moscow on Thursday to conduct talks on the possibility of reducing Iraq's external debt, a US State Department representative said in Washington. He confirmed that Baker will arrive in the Russian capital from London, where on Thursday morning he will meet with British prime minister Tony Blair.

On Tuesday, Baker met in Paris with President Jaques Chirac and held talks in Berlin with Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. On the basis of these meetings a joint statement was made on behalf of Bush, Chirac and Schroeder to the effect that the three countries are ready to "considerably reduce" the external Iraqi debt in 2004 within the framework of the Paris Club.

On Wednesday, Baker met in Rome with prime minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi. After that meeting the White House made a statement that Italy also confirmed the reduction of the Iraqi debt to the Paris Club.
