Wingas to form joint venture with Norsk Hydro (Norsk Hydro und Wingas schliesen Erdgas-Ehe)
Wingas GmbH, the German natural gas company, is to form a new joint venture with Norsk Hydro, the Norwegian energy company. The new company will be called Hydro Wingas Limited, and will be involved in the marketing and sale of natural gas in the UK. The joint venture has yet to be approved by the EU. Each of the participating companies will have a stake of 50 per cent in the new company. Wintershall, the subsidiary of German chemicals company BASF, has a stake of 65 per cent in Wingas, while the remaining 35 per cent of shares are owned by Gazprom, the Russian energy company.
