05 December 2003 02:04 Russia posts inflation of 1% in Nov MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Russia's consumer market inflation was 1.0% in November 2003, the State Statistics
Committee reported Friday.
Inflation was 1.6% in November 2002. The average daily rise in consumer prices in November 2003 was 0.032%, against
0.053% in November 2002.
Inflation was 10.8% in January-November 2003, against 13.3% in the same period of 2002. Consumer prices went up 1.0%
in October 2003, 0.3% in September, but down 0.4% in August. Inflation was 0.7% in July, 0.8% in June, 0.8% in May, 1.0%
in April, 1.1% in March, 1.6% in February, and 2.4% in January.
The basic consumer prices index, which excludes short-term, irregular price changes influenced by administrative or
seasonal factors, was 101.1% in November 2003 (110.1% in the eleven months).
In November 2003, prices grew 1.2% for food and drink (1.1% in October). Food and drink prices minus fruit and
vegetables rose 1.3% (1.8%). Nonfood prices rose 0.8% (1.0%) and service charges 0.4% (0.8%). In January-November,
prices went up 8.6% for food and drink (8.6% in January-November 2002). Food and drink prices minus fruit and vegetables
grew 10.4% (7.2%). Nonfood prices went up 8.6% (10.1%), and service charges 21.2% (34.7%).
In November 2003, inflation exceeded 2.0% in three regions. It was highest in Chukotka at 3.4%.
In the City of Moscow, inflation was 0.6% in November (9.5% in the eleven months). In St. Petersburg, inflation was
0.7% (11.2%).
