Russian PM wants to double share of small businesses in economy Moscow, 28 November: The share of small businesses in the Russian economy should stand at 40 per cent as against the
current 20 per cent, Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov told students of the Academy of National Economy under the
Government of the Russian Federation on Friday [28 November].
The share of small businesses in the Russian economy is growing, but at too slow a pace, Kasyanov said.
The government "does not always manage to provide the necessary support to small business to enable it to
develop and increase its share in the economy," he added.
Among the government's priorities is the development of a mortgage loan programme, which will allow for the
expansion of house building and further steps towards diversification of the economy, Kasyanov noted.
According to Kasyanov, next year almost R1bn will be allotted from the federal budget for house building.
