28 November 2003 12:24 Russia to set up special police unit to protect nuclear power stations Moscow, 28 November: By the end of the year Russia will set up a special-purpose unit tasked to protect nuclear
energy industry installations, Army Gen Vyacheslav Tikhomirov, deputy interior minister and C-in-C of Interior Ministry
forces, said on Friday [28 November]. The unit will be established in the framework of planned measures aimed at
countering terrorist threats, Tikhomirov told an expanded session of the military council of Russian Internal Troops.
The Interior Ministry and the Justice Ministry will be in charge of setting up the unit.
