(Corr) Consumers set to gain from Russia`s accession to WTO - deputy minister

Moscow, 22 November: Russian consumers will benefit from Russia's accession to the WTO, Deputy Minister of
Economic Development and Trade Maksim Medvedkov has told RIA on the eve of another round of bilateral talks with the USA
regarding Russia's entry into the WTO. Medvedkov heads the Russian delegation at the talks.
"The entry will affect an ordinary consumer mostly favourably. A WTO entry always means more competitive market,
better choice, more high-quality and cheaper goods and services," Medvedkov said. [Passage omitted]

[In a later report at 0642 gmt RIA quoted Medvedkov as saying that he expects the WTO entry to eliminate
Russia's discrimination in foreign markets. "Antidumping measures are being applied to Russia in many
countries, in particular on steel, chemical products, fertilizers in the first place, certain wood and paper
products," he said. "Russian nuclear fuel is the world's best. And they do not allow it anywhere,"
he added. Medvedkov said that these limitations are worth 2.5bn dollars.]
