January-September 2003.
These figures were announced by the State Statistics Committee with reference to the preliminary results of last
year's national census.

said. Natural population loss was 651,600 from January-September 2003. But this was 31,500 fewer than in the period from
January-September 2002. Declining migration compensated this loss by only 4.4%.
The State Statistics Committee also said that 1.12 million births were registered, as compared to 1.05 million a year
earlier, and 1.77 million deaths were registered against 1.73 million in the first three quarters of 2002.
