19 November 2003 22:18 SAP Labs campus in Bangalore The member of the Executive Board of SAP AG, Peter Zencke, today said that SAP's Bangalore centre would be a
strategic hub for product development and it would be involved in developing platforms and tools necessary to build the
Mobile Business Applications of SAP of which SAP NetWeaver formed the backbone.
Addressing a news conference, after inauguration of the new campus of SAP Labs India here today, Dr. Zencke said he
was impressed with the work done here and that SAP was looking ahead to a `nice future' here. SAP was looking at
emerging markets of China, Russia and India. SAP had extended its global market share to 57 per cent as of September
2003.
SAP would be focussing on mid-size enterprises and with the expansion plans the company had India would figure in it.
However, he did not disclose when Phase II of the SAP Labs India campus would take off. The investment on Phase I had
been Euro 20 million.
SAP's investment decisions, he said, would be based on cost reduction, return on investment and on turning
innovations into profits. The company had adopted models based on these parameters.
