Russia's GDP grew 6.6 percent in January-October 2003, Deputy Economy Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters Tuesday. He said the GDP had increased 0.6 percent in October 2003 compared with September 2003.
According to Mr. Dvorkovich, the Economy Ministry will revise its GDP figures for 2003 within the next two days. In his opinion, they will be slightly increased. The GDP growth is currently projected to be 5.9 percent in 2003.
According to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's Transition Report, published earlier this week, Russia's economic growth will be 6.2 percent in 2003, up from 4.3 percent last year. Earlier, the EBRD expected Russia's GDP to stay at 4.3 percent.
Mr. Dvorkovich also said inflation was 0.25 percent in November 1-10. According to him, the Economy Ministry will revise upwards its forecast the country's main economic indicators within the next two days. However, he said changes would be insignificant. Initially, inflation was projected to be 12-13 percent in 2003. According to the Central Bank of Russia, inflation is expected to be 1.1 percent in November.
