11 November 2003 07:38 Russian oil exports outside CIS up 18% in January-September MOSCOW. Nov 11 (Interfax) - Russia exported 17.7% more oil year-on- year in January-September to countries outside
the Commonwealth of Independent States, thanks to high world oil prices.
The State Customs Committee press service reports that the average prices for oil shipped abroad in 2003 have been:
in the first quarter $195.2 per tonne, in the second $161.1/tonne, in the third $183.0/tonne.
The committee notes that this past April, following the end of the Iraq war, average prices dropped to 4151.3/tonne,
rising in June to $168.0/tonne, in July to $178.4/tonne and in August to $192.2/tonne. September brought a drop to
$177.8/tonne, however.
Prices for oil products and natural gas rose along with oil prices. Volume shipments of gasoline increased by 20.7%,
those of diesel fuel 10.1%, for natural gas 5.9%. Shipments of fuel oil were down 7.9%, attributable to domestic needs
with the coming of winter heating.
Of exports, fuel and energy resources represented 60.7% of Russia's shipments out of the CIS in
January-September (56.4% one year earlier). Fuel and energy complex products rose 33.6% in value during this period. [RU
