Iran will hand a letter to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Monday agreeing to sign the so-called Additional Protocol, Hassan Rowhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, announced at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Rossiya (Russia) television reports.

According to Mr. Rowhani, Iran is temporarily suspending its uranium enrichment program. He also invited the Russian leader to visit Iran for more detailed talks.

For his part, Vladimir Putin expressed satisfaction at the decision by Iranian authorities to sign the Additional Protocol, and accepted the invitation to visit Iran.

Earlier, the IAEA requested evidence from Iran that it did not develop nuclear weapons, after IAEA inspectors found traces of enriched uranium at two Iranian plants. According to the country’s authorities, the traces were found in equipment purchased abroad.
