Law enforcement chief attacked in Makhachkala
MAKHACHKALA. Nov 7 (Interfax) - An attempt to murder the head of the department for the prevention of extremism and
criminal terrorism of the Interior Ministry of Dagestan has occurred in Makhachkala. The officer survived the
attack.
The assassins detonated an explosive device when the officer, Colonel Magomed Magomedov, was driving by, Interfax has
learned. The source said the device was probably damaged by the rain, which made the explosion less powerful than was
intended.
Magomedov's predecessor, Akhberdilav Akilov, was killed in Makhachkala in September 2002. The department has
