05 November 2003 09:49 RUSSIA POSTS INFLATION OF 1% IN OCT MOSCOW. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Russia's consumer market inflation reached 1% in October 2003, the State Statistics
Committee reported Wednesday.
Inflation was 1.1% in October 2002. The average daily rise in consumer prices in October 2003 was 0.032%, against
0.034% in October 2002.
In October 2003, prices grew 1.1% for food and drink (prices
dropped 0.2% in September), nonfood prices rose 1.0% (up 0.9%) and
Inflation was 9.7% in January-October 2003, against 11.5% in the same period of 2002. Consumer prices went up 0.3% in
September 2003, but down 0.4% in August. Inflation was 0.7% in July, 0.8% in June, 0.8% in May, 1.0% in April, 1.1% in
March, 1.6% in February, and 2.4% in January.
The basic consumer prices index, which excludes short-term, irregular price changes influenced by ad- ministrative or
seasonal factors, was 101.4% in October 2003 (108.9% in the ten months).

2002). Food and drink prices minus fruit and vegetables grew 9.1% (5.6%). Nonfood prices went up 7.7% (9.2%), and

In October 2003, inflation exceeded 1.8% in eight regions. It was highest in Omsk at 2.4%.
In the City of Moscow, inflation was 0.3% in October (8.9% in the ten months). In St. Petersburg, inflation was 1.0%
(10.4%).
