Russian aluminum exports up, exports of copper, nickel down MOSCOW. Sept 8 (Interfax) - Russian exports of aluminum to countries outside the CIS increased by 7.1% from
January-July 2003 compared to the same period from last year, but exports of refined copper and raw nickel fell by 17.9%
and 31.3%, respectively.
The country exported a total of 1,814,000 tonnes of aluminum, 229,900 tonnes of copper and 133,500 tonnes of nickel
in that period, or $1,871,300,000 worth of aluminum, $340,100 worth of copper and $1,032,600,000 worth of nickel, the
State Customs Committee reports.
During that period, Russia imported 198,500 tonnes of aluminum ores and concentrates worth $8 million, it
reports.
Countries outside the CIS accounted for nearly the entire Russian export of nonferrous metals in that period. [RU
