19 August 2003 09:58 Russia`s major air show opens near Moscow The MAKS 2003 international aerospace show is opening in the town of Zhukovsky near Moscow, tomorrow August 19. The Rosoboronexport, Russia's leading arms export company, expects it to spectacularly enhance transnational military technological partnership, Alexander Smelyakov, press secretary of the company Director General says.
Russian aircraft manufacturers have ever closer ties with their European-based counterparts. France is the closest partner of all. Thus, last June's Le Bourget aerospace show brought the Rosoboronexport and the Sukhoi aviation holding company ambitious contracts with the EADS, MBDA, SAGEM, Dassault and other European major corporations.
The Rosoboronexport and certain West European corporations have joint projects to update aircraft and helicopters in Central and East European Air Forces. The Rosoboronexport regards related contracts among its most lucrative and promising.
There are many more examples to testify to a great potential of the Russian military-industrial complex. Demands are increasing in the world's principal markets for military and dual-purpose produce of Russian design and manufacture, Mr. Smelyakov said.
