Russian air traffic controllers call off strike (Part 2)
MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Russian air traffic controllers have called off a strike scheduled for August 13, head of the State Civil Aviation Service Alexander Neradko has announced. An agreement between the employers, the Association for Air Navigation Services, the State Corporation for Air Traffic Services, and the employees was signed on Tuesday. It specifies a provision on the implementation of the previous agreement, which was concluded on June 10, 2003, he said. Under this agreement, the employees committed themselves not to go on strikes during the reorganization of the State Corporation for Air Traffic Services and pending talks on a collective agreement. Also, the parties pledged to tackle all problems together. "Therefore, the strike has been called off and work will proceed as usual," Neradko said. Earlier reports said that on June 10, the leaders of Russia's four largest air transport workers' unions and employer representatives signed an agreement to observe the collective agreement during the reorganization of companies, when new agreements are drafted and signed in line with labor laws.
