Russia says Afghanistan`s economic recovery "important"
Russia has described Afghanistan's economic reconstruction as important and as a duty of the international community. According to a report by IRNA [Iranian news agency] from Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Yakovenko said that Afghanistan's reconstruction and its economic revival would play a significant role in preventing the smuggle of illicit drugs to Russia and Europe. Russia wants to help the Afghan economy expand and develop, and similarly wants the stabilization of a secure and peaceful atmosphere in that country, Yakovenko added. He also stressed the need for the strengthening and deepening of relations between Afghanistan and its neighbours and for their constant assistance to that country.
