15 July 2003 08:53 Russia will preserve distribution of poultry import quotas among suppliers
MOSCOW. July 15 (Interfax) - Russia will continue distributing poultry import quotas among suppliers in 2003 and,
most likely, in 2004, Andrei Kushnirenko, a senior Economic Development and Trade Ministry official, told journalists on
Tuesday.
Kushnirenko, who heads the ministry's department for domestic market protection, spoke after a session of the
government's customs and tariff policy commission.
"The commission has decided to redistribute the remaining poultry import quotas among suppliers who have already
obtained licenses and among the companies that delivered poultry from January 1 to April 29," he noted.
The commission will also redistribute the remaining import quotas for beef and pork among suppliers with licenses and
plans to expand the list of "traditional importers" that conducted these supplies from January 1 to April 1,
2003.
According to materials presented at the commission's session, decisions have already been made on 77% of poultry
import quotas, 65% of beef and 73% of pork quotas. [RU EUROPE EEU EMRG TRD] tm mg <>
