French fraudster suspected of ties with extremists detained in Moscow
An international fraudster, French citizen Joel Sambuis (Russian transcription) was detained in Moscow on Tuesday night in a special operation by Russian Interior Ministry and French Special Police.

The commander of the operation, the head of the operative-investigation unit No 1 of the Main Police Directorate for Moscow City has told the press that the detained, Joel Michel Sambuis, born 1959 has been on France’s wanted list for about 3 years and has been under trial 3 times. The last time, the court sentenced Sambuis to 4 years in prison in absentia. The total amount of damage that the detained has inflicted on the French economy is estimated at 12 million euros.

A forges Russian passport was found on the fraudster. Now he will be arrested and most likely deported to France. Presently Sambuis is kept in pre-trial detention centre. He will be charged with illegl staying on Russian territory and forgery. Foreign special services claim to have suspitions that Sambuis has taken part in financing international extremist organizations.
