N. Ossetia President sacks government
The North Ossentian government has been dismissed by a decree signed by North Ossetian President Alexander Dzasokhov, the Presidential Administration reported.

North Ossetia’s parliament has confirmed Alan Boradzov as the republic’s Prime Minister. He had been nominated by President Dzasokhov. Alan Boradzov was the Transport Minister in the government that was sacked.

Earlier, Mr. Dzasokhov said he would resign soon. He made this statement at a public rally in the North Ossetian capital of Vladikavkaz on Wednesday. More than 3,000 people took to the streets. “Resign, resign!” they shouted, forcing Mr. Dzasokhov to announce that the North Ossetian government would be sacked over the next two days. The protesters accused the republic’s top security officials and President Dzasokhov of the school siege drama. Tamerlan Tsomayev, the former leader of the North Ossetian Communist Party, took part in the demonstration.

Another demonstration was held in central Vladikavkaz on Thursday. This time, it was in support of President Dzasokhov, the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper reports. 6,000 people turned out for the “Ossetia against terror” action. The demonstrators held a moment’s silence in memory of those killed in the Beslan tragedy, and called for “solving all existing problems on the basis of laws, not emotions”.

The Rodina faction in the State Duma demanded the dismissal of the Russian government in connection with the tragic events in Beslan. The party’s leader Dmitry Rogozin said the deputies had already started collecting signatures to put the question to vote. On Monday, Rodina issued a statement, saying that both the government and parliament should be disbanded, because the State Duma was fully incapable. In particular, they accused the Duma Council of not convening an extraordinary meeting during the siege crisis. Rodina said it was anti-people actions.

Meanwhile, the school siege death toll rises. A 7-year-old boy died in a Moscow hospital of multiple gunshot wounds, Echo of Moscow reports. According to the Health Ministry, over 360 people are still being treated in the hospitals of Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and North Ossetia. More than 1,200 people had been taken hostage by the terrorists in Beslan, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Zurabov said Thursday. According to official reports, 338 people were killed. 207 bodies have been identified, including 105 children. 116 bodies remain unidentified. Over 100 people are still unaccounted for.
